Welcome to Woodstock 1969 Theory

In 1969, I wanted more than anything in the world to be a hippie. That was not an easy dream to pull off in small-town Oklahoma, where the cool people seemed to live somewhere far away—on magazine covers, album jackets, television screens, and in a world just beyond reach.

But we had music.

Music was our secret language, our tribal drum, our coded communication to one another. It told us that something was changing, something was calling, and something larger than ourselves might be possible. Woodstock 1969 became the magnificent, muddy, impossible proof of that possibility.

Half a million people arrived with almost no rules, very little order, and every reason for disaster. And yet, out of rain, hunger, traffic, confusion, and chaos came one of the most enduring symbols of peaceful assembly, joyful music, and human camaraderie in American history.

This website explores my theory that Woodstock rose beyond the ordinary facts of a music festival. It became a tipping point, a pilgrimage, a sound event, and perhaps even a spiritual frequency—where peace, love, and music lifted the crowd above the mayhem.

This paper is dedicated to the children of the world who must, at times, follow a drummer to march for our lives.
